Re: picSender and Arduino Nano

Thanks guys.

Got an Uno and CNC Shield v3. PicSender works fine. Just ordered a full copy.

FYI, I got DRV8825 on the CNC Shield, adjusted the ref. voltage down to .55 (came in at 1.6v) on each axis. Still warms up the servo's. Any idea how low I can go? No worries, if it depends :)

Re: 1st decent attempt

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by ghosting, but I think you mean the ill defined edges. My guess is that it is backlash, trying to tighten up the belts now.

In PEP5, I couldn't find the settings to compensate. I tried enabling G61/G64, but those codes are not supported by grbl.

1st decent attempt

It's not 3D, but I'm happy with progress I've made. Inkscape, PEP5, my own gcode sender, grgl .9j (slightly modified). Approx 4.5" x 4.5". 500k+ lines. 1hr 5min.

Source for quality wood

Any suggestions on sources for wood, or other material for laser engraving?

Re: picSender and Arduino Nano

Thanks, but don't spend too much time on it. Just some info; UGS works fine until I get into the high speed setups, ie J-Tech .9g. It randomly locks up. I wrote a Perl script to send Gcode to it. It's slower than UGS with J-Tech, but the same speed with UGS and grbl .9i. Difference is, the Perl scri...

Re: picSender and Arduino Nano

It's a knockoff, but I'm looking to replace it and the shield. When you test picSender what controller do you use? When I click on continue the error dialog disappears. None of the buttons on the screen are active except for Open and Exit. Selecting Open throws an error about the port already in use...

picSender and Arduino Nano

I'm trying to test your picSender program. I have an Arduino Nano, have tried 0.9i and 0.9g from J-Tech. When I select Open it eventually times out, but not before the grbl announcement shows up. Trying to select open again and it says the port is in use. picSender was downloaded a couple of days ag...

Re: PicEngrave Pro 5, Shapeoko 2 & J-Tech Laser

Jeff, Thanks, acceleration rates was what I was missing. I have not gone to 12000mm/sec2 yet, but am using 8000mm/sec2, finally got reasonable grey scale. The $1 setting I kinda figure out on my own, but it makes a big difference. Went from 1.5 hrs on test print to 18min, happy :). Will try the anal...

Re: PicEngrave Pro 5, Shapeoko 2 & J-Tech Laser

The biggest thing I see is the acceleration rates. I had mine much lower. Had been working both rate and acceleration up, but didn't know what was too much. This helps. I have the J-Tech grbl hex, will give a try. Not sure I know what you mean by 'dwell', but I'll learn.

Thanks

Re: PicEngrave Pro 5, Shapeoko 2 & J-Tech Laser

I have PEP5 and J-Tech's 2.8W laser. Don't have the Shakeoko though. I have grbl 0.9i and a shield used for X-Y. Using grbl PWM in PEP to gen the gcode and J-Tech's laser driver. My biggest problem is that I cannot get anywhere near the speed shown in you videos. What is the biggest contributing fac...
