Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

I can't run your xml. Our setups are completely different. I just wanted to see if there was anything obvious in your settings that would cause the issues you are having.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Our gcode file is the same as yours, except the set feedrate, X & Y max travel distance and the 3rd axis letter.

We are in the Panhandle about 15 miles inland.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Got it. I don't see anything obvious, except you sure have your C axis accel set very high. I have been doing some PicConvert tests here (without any steppers powered) and with that same image resized to 1.5"X 1.5". Ours is setup with the A axis and since our laser's driver is analog modul...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

I never received the xml file to look at any Mach3 settings, so I'm at a dead end on anymore suggestions. We run R3.43.66 on both of our Mach3 machines without any issues. It's what Calypso Ventures recommends for there screenset that we use. http://www.calypsoventures.com/downloads/mach3releases.ht...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Warp9 suggested you test with Constant Velocity enabled & disabled. I was just letting you know there is that option in PEP6 to add those Constant Velocity commands, or not.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

When the "insert G61/G64" in PEP6 is selected, it adds a G64 at the beginning of the file to enable Constant Velocity and adds a G61 at the end of the file to disable Constant Velocity.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

It could be the PC's Ethernet line voltage, not necessarily an ESS issue. I know that could be a problem on some PP PCs, but I don't know anything about using an Ethernet to control a CNC machine, or if that could even be a problem with it. Just a thought.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Ok, I guess I should have asked you to send me your xml file. I can look through it and determine what is relevant. Your ESS is not common compared to our setups. Does your ESS have a solid 5v signal on the step & dir lines to control the PicConvert properly? It does require 10000 steps per and ...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

So you got the same results with the PWM at the J-Tech driver as the Analog signal on the PicConvert?

Can you send us your friend's Mach3 xml file to the email address your PEP6 registration came from? I'm curious what settings should work with the setup both of you have.

Thanks.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

OK, if you get everything working properly, just leave those commands in the Analog/PWM profile's Precode so you don't have to remember using the buttons when you power up the PicConvert.
