Re: Looking for advice / recommendations on laser CNC

Well, there are no laser diodes that will cut 1/4 ply single pass. And be leery of any laser diodes advertised to be over 7 watts. For cutting 1/4 ply single pass, you will have to go with a CO2 machine (probably around 100 watts or better), but that brings up another problem. To have a CO2 with a 3...

Re: Idea for future feature?

Thanks Bruce. Interesting idea. I have added it to my list and will give some consideration as to how best to implement such a feature.

Re: Locking Stepper Motors

Bob, a setting has to be changed in grbl to "lock" the steppers. It is $1=x (step idle delay, msec), and x shown here needs to be 255. From PicSender, click the yellow GRBL button, then click Edit Settings on the Grbl screen. Change whatever number is after the = in setting $1, and change ...

Re: OptLaser/X-Carve

BEEMAN,
Sorry, we do not have any experience with an OptLaser here. Perhaps some others here do, but you probably will get quicker help posting on a Facebook group or the Inventables forum.

Re: PicSender v3 Update Released

There is an issue that has affected some system configurations. The latest update has been temporarily withdrawn as this is resolved. It should be fixed and a new update released soon. Please check back in a couple of days. We apologize for the problem.

Re: New to GRLB need guidance

Bob, that is correct. Some of the grbl settings might be changed to improve machine operation a little, and some may need to be changed to calibrate the distance movements of the axes. This should help with your understanding of grbl. Some of this will be confusing, I know, but with time and experie...

Re: New to GRLB need guidance

Bob, There are no settings in PicSender to affect the gcode settings, but there are some in grbl. The grbl settings can be viewed, and changes made, by clicking the yellow GRBL button at the top of the screen. What you are describing (coming up fast and going down slow) is most likely not a grbl set...

Re: Mach3 With PicEngrave Pro5 First Step

Marcelo,
If you are not already a member of the Mach3 forum, please join and read through this post (https://www.machsupport.com/forum/index ... ic=12444.0). It is a long one, but full of very good information and help for using Mach3 and lasers, both CO2 and laser diodes.

Re: Mach3 With PicEngrave Pro5 First Step

Marcelo, Mach3 will not work well with a laser for gray scale engraving images, but it can work to engrave dithered images using Mach3's built in commands. The PicConvert board is only necessary if you want to send a variable PWM signal to a laser. I am not clear on what it is that you exactly want ...
