Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Ok, it must be Mach3 rounding off the number when displaying the position in the DRO. Try a -.0253 Max depth in PEP6 and see if you get the same results.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

I went back and watched your video again and noticed the C axis DRO showed this when the file was running. Capture.JPG Did you set the Max Depth in PEP6 at -.0256 instead of -.0255? Your C axis Min/Max range should not be more than C.0000 to C-.0255. That is a total of 256 .0001 positions (8bit) tha...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

OK, if the PicConvert was not zeroing properly before you made the new buttons, it sure would have caused issues when you were laser engraving, or running the PicConvert test gcode file.

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

If the Step & Dir Pulse 2-2 works without the PicConvert loosing position, then leave it there. You can resize the image in the PEP6 editor to make it smaller (1.5" X 1.5" ?) and generate the test file again. Make sure you use "Auto" and input the same .006 Pixel Resolution f...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Yes, that feedrate will work, but you will need to add a G1 at the beginning of them. Like this: G1 C-0.0255 F50 G1 C-0.0000 F50 As far as what accel to use with the C axis, set it for whatever works with your setup. Just keep testing with PicConvert test gcode file until it does not lose it's posit...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

It appears the PicConvert is loosing position. Did you try experimenting with the Step & Dir Pulse settings in Motor Tuning? What accel do you have the C axis set at? As far as the PicConvert not zeroing, it could be the Step & Dir Pulse setting causing it to lose position since your buttons...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Try this image. PicConvert Test.bmp If you use a .005 Pixel Resolution, it will be 2" X 2" in size. With a .006 Pixel Resolution, it will be 2.4" X 2.4". Use a .0000 Min and -.0255 Max setting. One of the 45D engraving angles will test it to the extreme. If possible, don't power ...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

If the laser is burning dark in white areas, the PicConvert is loosing it's position. Are you zeroing the PicConvert before running any gcode files? It's not the PEP6 code causing it. You should try experimenting with the Motor Tuning Step & Dir Pulse settings until the PicConvert does not lose ...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

The PicConvert's Digital Potentiometer has 8bit resolution, so there is a total of 256 different voltage outputs between 0-5v to control the laser power. You have to use the 3rd axis min setting for where the laser just starts to burn the lightest shades in the image. Each material may require a dif...

Re: Jerky Motion (Mach3, ESS, PicConvert)

Yes, I watched the video. I thought it was slowing because of the Feed Rate Change.
