1st decent attempt

Postby kmartin57 » Sun Oct 18, 2015 6:47 pm

It's not 3D, but I'm happy with progress I've made. Inkscape, PEP5, my own gcode sender, grgl .9j (slightly modified). Approx 4.5" x 4.5". 500k+ lines. 1hr 5min.

Looks good for a start. It looks like you have some ghosting though. Is there a delay in the laser burn running in one direction or the other? Or could it be backlash with your mechanics? PEP5 has a setting to compensate for either.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by ghosting, but I think you mean the ill defined edges. My guess is that it is backlash, trying to tighten up the belts now.

In PEP5, I couldn't find the settings to compensate. I tried enabling G61/G64, but those codes are not supported by grbl.

Shadowing may be a better term then ghosting, but you know what I meant. This setting will compensate for the backlash.

The Enable G61/G64 is for a Mach3 controller. It's enables Constant Velocity.
