Im using a J-Tech laser. Its set at 1.5W and it has the high power adjustable lens. The high is at 3" to the bottom of the heat sink (was unsure about where to exactly set this). I made a 3" Z block to help set up it easier. Ive tried burns at 2W without much change in the image quality.
Theres random streaking in the burned image. I say random but the lines are usually in the same place. I readjusted the Rez to .006 and adjusted the image size. I also started the 45º from the right to see if the streaking would change but it did not. The .006 does make the some of the clarity better but its too dark. Ive burned other images which have no streaking. The attached image I tried at .008. Just to clarify, I open image editor and adjust the image size with a Resolution of .006 (or what ever), save it and then open it in the PEP5, Then change the settings to match the resolution of the image so the gcode step over will be the same as the resolution of the saved image. My laser beam is parallel with the direction of the burn.
